Who We Are

A specialised international literary agency connecting Brazilian editorial heritage with global publishing markets.

AFA Literary Agent is an international literary agency specialising in the representation, curation, and negotiation of copyright and subsidiary rights for works centred on spirituality, the investigation of consciousness, and the ethical development of the human being. Its structuring axis is the Spiritist tradition codified by Allan Kardec.

Our institutional identity is grounded in the Spiritist Revelation — a body of teachings transmitted by Spirits and systematised by Allan Kardec in the second half of the nineteenth century — understood as a progressive, rational revelation of universal scope.

The agency emerged from the convergence between this doctrinal tradition, consolidated in Brazil, and the technical demands of today’s international publishing market.

Founded and directed by Adriano Ferrigato de Araujo — editor, author, and editorial coordinator at YodBooks, with more than four decades of experience in commercial representation, marketing, media, management, business development, and negotiations — AFA works strategically as a bridge between Brazil’s Spiritist literary tradition and the global publishing market.

Affiliation with YodBooks. AFA Literary Agent is affiliated with YodBooks, an independent publishing house dedicated to Spiritist and spiritual literature. The two organisations have complementary roles: YodBooks focuses on publishing and editorial preparation, while AFA focuses on international rights representation, licensing and professional dialogue with foreign publishers.

Editorial Context

Over more than a century, Brazil has developed one of the world’s most consistent traditions of Spiritist and mediumistic literature, with hundreds of publishers, thousands of published titles, and an established readership.

It is a mature, continuous, and culturally relevant segment — yet still insufficiently structured and presented in a strategic manner to the international market.

Although Spiritism has a solid doctrinal framework and a publishing tradition consolidated in Brazil, its international presence remains incipient. Outside the country, Spiritist literature is still largely unknown and is often confused with generic spiritualist productions or with unstructured mystical approaches. AFA addresses this gap by shaping a technical, conceptual, and strategic presentation of this editorial heritage for the global arena.

AFA operates precisely at this point through:

  • Specialised curatorship
  • Conceptual framing
  • International editorial structuring
  • Professional rights negotiation
  • Market-specific cultural adaptation

Without diluting identity.

Without compromising the doctrinal foundation.

Without sacrificing conceptual rigour.

Doctrinal Foundation

Spiritism, as defined by Allan Kardec in What Is Spiritism?, is simultaneously:

  • An observational science
  • A philosophical doctrine
  • A moral system for human self-improvement

AFA represents:

  • Foundational doctrinal texts
  • Exegetical studies of the Codification
  • Grounded philosophical essays
  • Technical and critical commentary
  • Works of theoretical deepening
  • Conceptual systematisation tools, such as specialised doctrinal glossaries

Our editorial commitment follows principles of fidelity, conceptual clarity, terminological precision, and technical rigour, as established in YodBooks’ editorial standards.

Contemporary Trend

The international landscape shows growing interest in:

  • Self-knowledge
  • Applied ethics, beyond moralistic discourse
  • Spirituality grounded in reason and individual responsibility
  • Spiritual interiority independent of formal confessional structures
  • The search for rational answers about the origin, meaning, and continuity of life after death
  • The investigation of consciousness
  • Integral health, understood as the integration of the physical, psychological, and spiritual dimensions

Alongside this, approaches that seek to bring science, philosophy, and spirituality closer together are gaining ground, challenging historical dichotomies between matter and spirit.

In this context, Brazil’s Spiritist tradition offers a structured contribution by linking the rational investigation of spiritual phenomena to moral and existential consequences — as Allan Kardec defined when characterising Spiritism as an observational science and a philosophical doctrine.

AFA positions this content in a technical and strategic manner, preserving its identity, intellectual depth, and doctrinal integrity.
